About Me
Anita Burns, Be Clutter Free
|
Born in southern California, I attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, and graduated from Chico State with a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development. San Diego became my home in 1977. I worked at JC Penney's and drove a school bus for San Diego Unified School District. I later worked for two large insurance brokerage firms and an insurance company for almost 30 years.
As a Volunteer for ElderHelp of San Diego, I assisted low-income elderly people in their home each week for almost 20 years, grocery shopping, and bill paying. My passion became the elderly. I went back to school, earning a Certificate in Gerontology in 2000, then a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly Administrator License in 2006 from the State of California. |
Plans changed; I would combine my administrative skills, with my desire to keep seniors in their homes safely as long as possible. My in-home senior care assistant business, Be Clutter Free, began to take shape.
I advocated for my parents' care from 4 hours away, when in their 70's, dad was diagnosed with cancer, and mom was seriously injured in an automobile accident. My relationship with and commitment to them during those years, helped me learn to manage caregivers, organize spaces, how to down-size.
In 2010, I retired after 22 years at the insurance brokerage. Organizing spaces and lives became my primary focus.
After visiting Asheville in 2016, I decided it was time for new adventures. I moved to Hendersonville.
I love to camp, hike, swim, snorkel, garden, read, and travel.
